(March 26~28, 2012, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan)
This workshop was designed to define and discuss the distinguishing cultural elements of Korean and Spanish traditional patterns by using computational design methods (pattern decomposition and shape grammar). In particular, we introduced a new way of approaching the analysis of cultural DNA that implied in traditional patterns for cultural comparison. And it was organized by a series of lectures and tutorials. The designed tutorial aimed to introduce our approach of cultural comparison with the SD2 (Subshape Detector 2) software. Tutorial had a brief introduction to some basic features in making Korean and Spanish traditional patterns by step-by-step.
Prof. Lee and Sun-Joong Kim (Master’s Student) received an invitation from National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan) to introduce our research and computational approaches.
